On 17 January 2026, the High Seas Treaty enters into force—the first binding international agreement to protect biodiversity beyond national jurisdictions, with impacts also for the Mediterranean and its deltas.
Held on 31 October 2025 in Alexandroupolis, Greece, the General Assembly of the Association of Mediterranean Deltas ETS brought together the network of delta territories from across the Mediterranean.
